  • What is an open badge?
    Badges are web-enabled versions of a credential, certification or learning outcome which can be verified in real-time, online.
  • How does my certification get displayed as a badge?
    Avid has partnered to translate the learning outcomes you’ve demonstrated into a badge, issued and managed through the Credly digital badging platform. This enables you to accept, manage, share and verify your competencies digitally. The Credly technology is based on the Open Badge Standards maintained by IMS Global.
  • What are the benefits of a badge?
    Representing your skills as a badge gives you a way to share your abilities online in a way that is simple and trusted. Your unique digital badge can be easily sharde on social media, your resume, your email signature, and elsewhere. Your digital badge proves that you have met the requirements to be Avid Certified. The badge includes information about your certification and can be easily verified in real time. Badges provide employers and peers concrete evidence of what you had to do to earn your credential and what you’re now capable of. Digital credentials also include labor market insights, based on your skills, so you can search and apply for job opportunities right through Credly.
  • How will I know if I’ve earned a digital badge and how do I claim it?
    If you have successfully passed an Avid certification exam, you will receive an email notification from Credly (admin@credly.com) with instructions for setting up your account and claiming your badge. Make sure to check your email inbox and junk or spam folder for your notification. If you can’t locate the email, go directly to Credly. Upon accessing your account, you should see an accept badge message. We love to recognize your accomplishments. Get noticed and share your achievements.   • What if I don’t want my badge to be public?
    You can easily configure your privacy settings in the Credly platform. You’re in complete control of the information about yourself that is made public.
  • Is there a fee to be part of the Avid Badging and Digital Credentials program and to use the Credly platform?
    No. This is a service Avid provides to you, at no cost.
  • What’s to keep someone else from copying my badge and using it?
    While badges are simply digital image files, they are uniquely linked to data hosted on Credly. This link to verified data makes them more reliable and secure than a paper-based certificate. It also eliminates the possibility of anyone claiming your credential and your associated identity.
  • Where and how can I share my badge through Credly?
    You can share your badge directly from Credly to LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook; over email, embedded in a website or in your email signature.
  • How do I print my certification?
    As of the introduction of our Badging & Digital Credentials program, Avid will provide access to your certificate through the Credly platform. Once you claim your badge, you can download a print-quality PDF of your certificate for your records or print and display. Click here for a step-by-step guide:
  • What are labor market insights and how can I access them through Credly?
    Labor market insights are pulled from live job requisitions. Based on your skills you can learn which employers are hiring, what job titles you might be qualified for, salary ranges and more. Search active job listings and even apply for them with just a few clicks through Credly. Access the labor market insights from your badge details page by clicking on Related Jobs, or by clicking on the skill tags assigned to your badge.
  • I was Avid certified years ago, do I retroactively get a badge?
    Badges and digital credentials were made available for the following certification types earned since January 1, 2021: User Certifications Technical Certifications (System Administrators only) Developer Certifications For Avid Certified | Support Representatives (ACSRs) and Avid Certified | Instructors, badges and digital credentials were made available to all active certifications as of March, 2023.
  • Why haven't I received my badge?
    If you were eligible to receive a badge from a previous certification (see question above) or recently completed a new certification, you will automatically receive emails from admin@credly.com. Please whitelist that email address and/or check your spam/junk folder(s). If you still haven't received your notification, please contact: learning@avid.com
  • Where are the classes offered?; Where can I take the training and exam?
    MediaTech Education and Training is an ALP active and based in Pune. We have collaborated wit Pune's TSM Studios to offer training and classes. Exams are delivered and monitored by MediaTech at campus.
  • How much does certification cost?
    Course fees are set independently for each course. Courses can be clubbed in a bundle to get added discounts or bundled pricing. Students are required to purchase a course book, which includes the cost of the course exam, and a single retake, if required. Additional retakes are chargeable per retake. MediaTech encourage students currently enrolled on any educational program to gain Avid certifications as extra skills and offers Educational Pricing to eligible students. Ask for your eligibility while enrolling on any course at MediaTech.
  • Can I refer to study materials during the exam?
    No. Students are not allowed to reference any documentation or study materials during the exam.
  • What is the format of the exam?
    The exam is composed of 50 questions with 60 minutes allotted for completion. Test items are presented in the following formats: Multiple Choice: Select the single option that best answers the question Illustration Review: Refer to the illustration (e.g. Avid product interface) prior to answering the multiple choice question Illustration Response: Select the single image that best answers the question For Expert-level certifications, an additional practical exam is required. The practical exam is a live demonstration of your skills, during which an Avid Certified Instructor trained in the proper grading process will observe you. You will be required to complete a range of tasks on a sample session that are graded on the successful completion of those tasks within the allotted amount of time, as well as the efficiency with which you work. Points may be awarded for the appropriate use of specific tools, techniques, and shortcuts; and points may be lost if a task is completed incorrectly and needs to be repeated.
  • What happens if I take the exam and do not pass?
    Exam results are shown immediately when an exam is completed and submitted for evaluation. The following retake policy applies: If a student does not pass an exam, the candidate may retake the exam after 24 hours have passed. Once a student has passed an exam, it may not be taken again for that version of the Avid product.
  • What will I receive if I successfully pass the exam?
    Along with pride and confidence of becoming part of an elite group of Avid Certified users, you will receive: A digital badge and credentials that can be easily managed and shared in LinkedIn and other social media, and added to your personal marketing materials, resume, etc. Entry in Avid’s online certification directory on our digital badging platform, accessible via Find a Certified Professional. Official certificate of achievement available for printing or download Access to Avid’s badging platform vendor, Credly and the additional benefits found there, such as employment listings related to your certification
  • How long is certification good for?
    Your Avid user certification does not expire. You become certified for a particular version of Avid product software. You may find it beneficial to update your certification to the current version from time to time. Contact your local Avid Learning Partner for more information.
  • What happened to the “Avid Certified User” certifications?
    The same certifications remain. They have been renamed to “Avid Certified | Specialist”.
  • What happened to the “Avid Certified Operator” certifications?
    The same certifications remain. They have been renamed to “Avid Certified | Professional”.
  • I have a question about Credly. Where can I find support?

  • How do I become an Avid Certified User for Pro Tools?
    Firstly attend the two courses: Pro Tools Fundamentals I (PT101) Pro Tools Fundamentals II (PT110) To certify you must complete each course, including course projects/exercises, at MediaTech, then pass each course completion exam.
  • What if I already know how to edit & mix in another application and just need to learn Pro Tools?
    The certification courses are designed for all engineers, producers, or anyone involved in the creation and delivery of digital audio. For students already familiar with other DAWs and mixing fundamentals, each course can be taught in short 2 to 3 day intensive classes. This type of training can be more appropriate for experienced professionals who simply need to learn the software or update their skills.
  • What will I receive if I successfully pass the exam?
    Along with pride and confidence of becoming an Avid Certified User for Pro Tools you will receive: Official certificate available for printing or download, proving your Avid Certified User status Downloadable Logos, for use in your resume, business marketing materials such as business cards and websites (Optional with your express consent) Listing of your credentials on Avid.com under Find a Certified Professional
  • How long is certification good for?
    our Pro Tools certification does not expire. You become certified for a particular version of Pro Tools software. You may find it beneficial to update your certification to the current version from time to time.
  • Are there any prerequisites?
    Yes. You must first earn the credential of Avid Certified User: Pro Tools before you can enroll in the classes for Certified Professional (previously Certified Operator).
  • How do I become a certified as an Avid Certified Professional (previously Certified Operator) for Pro Tools Music Production?
    Two courses are required: PT201 Pro Tools Production I, and PT210M Pro Tools Production II (Music Production). To certify, you must complete each course including course projects/exercises at an official Avid Learning Partner, then pass each course completion exam.
  • How do I become a certified as an Avid Certified Professional (previously Certified Operator) for Pro Tools Post Production?
    Two courses are required: PT201 Pro Tools Production I, and PT210P Pro Tools Production II (Post Production). To certify, you must complete each course including course projects/exercises at an official Avid Learning Partner, then pass each course completion exam.
  • How long is certification good for?
    Pro Tools Certification does not expire. You become certified for a particular version of Pro Tools software. Then, Avid Certified Professional for Pro Tools have an option to update their certification to a newer version by taking the Pro Tools update exam.
  • What will I receive if I successfully pass the exam?
    Along with pride and confidence of becoming a part of an elite group of Pro Tools users, you will receive: 1. Official certificate available for printing or download, proving your Avid Certified Professional status. 2. Downloadable Logos, for use in your business marketing materials such as business cards and websites. 3. (Optional with your express consent) Listing of your credentials on Avid.com under Find a Certified Professional.
  • Are there any prerequisites?
    Yes. You must first earn the credentials of Avid Certified User: Pro Tools and Avid Certified Professional: Pro Tools | Music/Post to be eligible to enroll in the respective class for Certified Expert.
  • How do I become an Avid Certified Expert for Pro Tools (Music)?
    To certify, you must complete the course, PT310M Advanced Music Production Techniques, including course projects/exercises at an official Avid Learning Partner, then pass the course completion exams.
  • How do I become an Avid Certified Expert for Pro Tools (Post)?
    To certify, you must complete the course, PT310P Advanced Post Production Techniques, including course projects/exercises at an official Avid Learning Partner, then pass the course completion exams.
  • What is the format of the exam?
    An Avid Certified Expert exam includes two components – a practical exam and a standard multiple-choice exam. The practical exam is a live demonstration of your skills, during which an Avid Certified Instructor trained in the proper grading process will observe you. You will be required to complete a range of tasks on a sample session, and are graded on the successful completion of those tasks within the allotted amount of time, as well as the efficiency with which you work. For example, some points may be awarded for the appropriate use of specific tools, techniques and shortcuts; and points may be lost if a task is completed incorrectly and needs to be repeated.
